Halloween

So I'm going to post this really quick! This Halloween we kept it simple. These pictures are from the Halloween play group. Piper started throwing up right before trunk or treating at the church, So i didn't bother with pictures then. Austin was a Knight of course, but with a few updates to his costume thanks to the dollar store! Piper was Dumbo and LOVED it. She got a big kick out of being an elephant. I made the trunk the night before. I wish I had Gray instead of blue... She was still cute nevertheless. They had a ton of fun and that's what matters. We were all sick and throwing up the following week, along with half the ward so I hear...

Our new adventures

So, there's been a big lapse of time since I last updated this blog. We've been busy, we went to Disneyland with the family, Austin and Piper, and I had birthdays, Of course all the holidays since Christmas, and we moved to Pullman, WA for school, (WSU). So I'm going to jump right to moving to Pullman because I don't have a lot of time right now. But I''ll try to put some of the old stuff in later. we found an apartment on the edge of campus, It's low income so it'll be $390/mo for a 3 bdrm/2 ba. Michael transferred to the Costco in Clarkston, (40 min away) But he'll get to keep his higher pay and status. So that's great. I want to get pictures of the view coming into Lewiston/clarkston. I'll have to post it when I do. I still like the mountain's/trees/ocean views better, but it is great in a different way. It's also at least 10 degree's hotter when you go down into the canyon where lewiston/Clarkston are. It was at least 104 last time I went with Michael. Otherwise it's been mostly in the 90's in Pullman. Michael broke our AC unit while trying to install it, so we had to buy another. We got a great deal off of craigslist and it's portable so no installing! And we can move it from window to window. It's still chaotic in the house with all the boxes and things to pack. We didn't bring over all of our shelves so we don't have places for everything yet. It's starting to come together though. Here's some pictures of the apartment! Not as pretty...and it was hard to move around...But it's better now, not nearly finished, but livable.

She loves being outside and watching the cars go by. Other things I don't have pictures for are the places we've gone with the ward groups. We went to the lake one day, and to an outdoor huge aqua center where Austin FINALLY got brave enough to put half his face in the water and blow bubbles and just play around without being afraid. There are lots of other activities they're doing every week, like geocaching, squirt gun wars, biking a long trail, and a playgroup that gets together every week at various places. It's been a fun week. The people are nice everywhere we go. There are like a dozen LDS families in our apartment complex alone. And lots of kids for Austin to play with. Kids and their parents get together by the the play area, so we can go out and find friends any time during the day, and a bunch of the women and their kids go for a walk every morning. It's been such a full week it feels like we've been here a month! So in conclusion, we're having a blast, making lots of potential friends, and just excited about our new life! We'll be visiting Camano Island area soon though, so we'll say hi to those there in a week or so.

He was so excited about his new talent! He ran to Grandpa and I and told us to come watch. He would get on the skateboard and act as though he was skating, then tip it a few times, then jump off for a finaly! He was so proud I had to get the camera!

Sick Sick Sick

My kids have been Sick!

Fever, runny nose, cough, lathargic...it's so sad....

Piper's stuffy nose kept her from being able to eat much. I tried using saline drops and a bulb syringe. She hated it so much! It doesn't hurt right? She sure screams like it does...

She also just wasn't interested in eating while being lathargic and feverish. She ended up getting dehydrated. We took her to the doctor, and of course that's when she started to feel better. The Doctor said the only thing left to try was an I-v, so he wanted us to keep trying what we were doing and hope she came around, which she did, thank goodness!

It's so sad and sweet when they're sick! It's sad to see them that way, but they are so cuddly and loving too!

Poor little tykes!

At least Michael and I didn't get sick. Whew!

Piper is a kitty here. You can see the mess she made on her outfit with her first finger foods! She was very cute about it, she used her 2 fingers to pick up the Little Puffs. Very dainty-like. She was SO excited too!

Spaceman Austin is ready for take off here in his "spaceship". He's so proud! HE wanted me to take a picture and waited patiently in his ship while I got the camera.

Halloween

SO Halloween didn't go as planned this year. We planned on joining Cameron, Nicole, Breanne, and Katelyn to trick or treat then head over to Michael's sister's boyfriend's parents for a get together. But, Michael had to do homework and missed out on Halloween altogether. The kids and I stayed with my mom and her kids for trick or treating. I dressed up as Belle from beauty and the Beast, Austin is a Knight, and Piper is Bedtime carebear. I didn't take pictures Halloween, we dressed up again for pictures later in the week. Although for some reason he's scared to wear costumes. But he was OK once we got out and about. We had a cute Dumbo costume we couldn't get him to wear. I wanted him to be superman, but we couldn't find that costume ANYWHERE! And then out of nowhere, it showed up in his PJ drawer today...grrr... Austin loved trick or treating. One lady said he could take another candy and he was SO excited! He ran back to me saying, " Mommy! Mommy! I got LOTS! She said I could have 2! See! 1, 2!

James helped him around and that made him feel big. It was overall a good day.

Mom and i spent more time then we should on my costume. I found this dress at Value village for a dollar last year and just HAD to use it! It looked much different when we started though. It was sleeveless and the bottom was bunched here and there creating a frosting kinda look. We took those out and I swear the dress was 10 feet tall then. The dress came with a shawl and that's what we made the sleeve thingys out of. We also added a bunch of tool to make it fuller.

Piper just got to wear the carebear costume because I couldn't find anything reasonably priced for her. She still looked cute though!

Michael was going to be Beast from x-men, but it'll have to wait till next year.

Kidlet update

Austin is acting so much older now. His understanding and communication is very good. He is however going through his terrible 2's. He gets very sassy and likes to defy us and he's a HUGE tease, which some of the other kids don't like. I've learned that I can't swat him or any form of physical punishment (Which I didn't want to do anyway, I just did for lack of a better option...) An example of the reason why I can't is one time I swatted him for hitting and told him not to hit and he told me I hit him. Which we know you can't hit to teach not to hit, but I hoped swatting would be taken different or he would catch that yet or something...maybe I just wasn't thinking. But a few things like that has happened. He's also swatted me when he didn't like how I was acting. He said No No Mommy and swatted me as hard as he could. SO I'm open to ideas for punishment and intervention.

He's also almost got his whole alphabet down and can count almost to 20 on a good day. He's still not consistent with colors, but knows all the shapes I could think to teach him. He likes to play matching games and is a huge ball fan. He created a game where you and him run in a large circle and throw and catch the ball while running. Good for developing coordination.

Aside from the terrible 2's and hitting, He is very sweet too. He's VERY good with Piper! If she's crying he runs to her saying i have to make my baby Piper happy! He gives her the pacifier and plays peek-a-boo for her or does a little dance. He like to give her toys and stuff he thinks she will like, which sometimes isn't a good thing, but it's a good thought! He gives her lots of hugs and kisses too.

He's very lovable and cuddly (when he's in a good mood) and polite.

Overall He's a wonderful and smart little guy!

Piper is doing well too. She's 7 months now and a sweet and happy gal. She's a very sunny child, smiles all the time. She loves her tongue. She loves the feel of the wind, water and fun fabrics on her face. She's really getting into splashing water, she likes to taste the wind, and rub the fabrics on her face.

She can stand while holding onto stuff like the couch. She doesn't crawl yet, but she does rock on all fours. I think she's doing fairly well physically considering how weak she was as an infant. (I don't think she was ready to be born when I had the c-section because she was still covered in the white stuff and fairly weak.)

She says Mama when she's sad. Not as a word in my opinion, although my mom disagrees.

She's picking up lint off the ground now, so we have to vacuum a LOT now.

She LOVES loves LOVES food and eating! She gets SO excited to see food and tries to help feed herself. She really like she mesh feeders and so do I because she can do it herself with minimum mess.

She absolutely ADORES Austin. She squeals and talks and laughs when he's around. He may be her favorite person. Along with Michael and I.

She teething and having a really hard time with it. She clenches he jaw and shutters while crying. She cute her upper gums with her lower two teeth too. Poor Baby.

She's very social and doesn't like to be alone. I end up holding her a lot of the day, which makes it hard to get stuff done.

So I'm starting a family Blog, obviously...

We are a little family of 4, Michael, Larissa, (dad and mom), Austin(2 & 1/2), and Piper (6 months). Michael is going to school full time for electrical engineering, I (Larissa) am a stay at home Mommy, And the kids are just cute. Being a mom of two little tots is hard and fun. We're getting adjusted , finally. We are staying with my parents right now so Michael can focus on school. And it turns out it's handy for babysitting reasons too! Plus they can play with their aunts and uncles all day.
